What is Fashion

When one thinks about Fashion,  the lingering question remains, “What is Fashion?”
Once Coco Chanel had said, “There is nothing more comfortable than a caterpillar and nothing more made for love than a butterfly. We need dresses that crawl and dresses that fly. Fashion is at once a caterpillar and a butterfly, caterpillar by day, butterfly by night. What I think she had meant by this statement was that it is important for one to look good but it is also integral for one to feel comfortable in his or her skin. No one, (not even Coco Chanel) can pull off a look as beautiful as a butterfly without being comfortable in it as well as his or her skin.

Fashion is a fusion of inspiration, style and individuality. The greatest of fashion designers know the importance of individuality. Style should generate from within you and you should present it in the physical form via the media of fashion. One should strive for individuality and not lose their identity. In fashion, one should strive to be the herder and not the sheep. The late Alexander McQueen, one of the greatest designers of our time had once said “I kind of like it the way it is right now, ... I believe in that one-on-one sell. I don't really believe in flooding the market with loads of goods that don't mean much, and (you) lose your identity.”

WLCI Fashion Trends For 2012-2013

Take a first look at the four trend topics: Color Riot, Dark Lux, Craft Industry and Split Clarity

Color Riot - Color in Revolt:

In 'Color Riot', dynamic, thrumming shades of color appear in a new context - fresh, bold and vivid. And there are no limits on the interaction with light. High-gloss materials, colored laminations, superimpose'd, fluid and flexible fabrics underscore the brilliance of monochrome colors. New are, for example, 'optical fibers, iridescent effects and recycled materials.

Decisive for the effect are the quality, wear resistance and longevity of the high-grade materials. When it comes to patterns, the trend experts expect, for example, broad stripes, all-over geometric patterns and graphic motifs. The computer world is- represented by digital designs, photographic prints and hologram effects. Despite the playful urge to experiment, the unexpected looks appear clear and unequivocal.

Dark Lux The beauty of the night:
The shadows of the night create a dark, mystical and elegant color series dominated by deep black, which is particularly expressive on lustrous materials. Rounding off the color world are dark, colored accents - pepped up by metallic champagne and gold. Rubberized, liquid looks and glossy surfaces interact with furs and long-haired, smooth
hides. Clarity and severity give the sumptuous textiles their modern appearance. Iridescent, shimmering and transparent qualities with animated surface modulation generate an air of mystery. Deep gloss, metallic shimmers, sequins and elaborate materials are to be found in almost all segments.

Craft Industry A blend of tradition, handicrafts and the modern:

The combination of tradition and handicrafts on the one hand and industrial and mechanical methods on the other dominate the look of 'Craft Industry'. A sunny-warm and lively color series is oriented towards natural landscapes with sky, mountains, lakes and forests, which contrast with industrial, metallic coal, copper and old-gold tones.

Split Clarity The bare essentials:

Less is more - 'Split Clarity' concentrates on simple, functional and essential elements. In other words, the focus is on sustainability, quality, high technology and new materials. The result is clear-cut, modern aesthetics. Clarity is reflected by a series of colors inspired by nature.

The minimalism and restrained compositions are generally interrupted by a single expressive shade. Material versatility is crucial. Metallic and reflecting surfaces, semi-plain patterns and transparent materials are used, as are animated but restrained surfaces. Linear, high-contrast and severe graphic designs set unequivocal accents. Depth is created by the interaction of light and shadow in different materials and surfaces.

WLCI College India

Fashion to me is something that keeps you up to date. Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street; fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening. Fashions fade but style is eternal. Its rightly said that “only great mind can effort a simple style”. We are shaped and fashioned by watt we love. On matters of style , swim with the current and on matters of principles , stand like a rock. Its new era in fashion – there are no rules. It’s all about the individual and personal style. The most important thing to remember is that you can wear all the greatest clothes and all the greatest shoes, but you have got to have a good spirit on the inside of you. That’s what’s really going to make you look like you are ready to rock the world.

WlCL College is a platform where we are groomed up with practicalism and direct knowledge is provided about how the entire fashion industry works, through there various set of modules and subjects. Fashion skills are more practiced on practical basis. Theory along with the practical knowledge, what else is required. And at the same time best out of best that is filtered company link ups to find a worth job in future, placements are guaranteed. Moreover best of the faculties to provide and explore much more knowledge about industry by sharing their personal experiences. What else than this….

Five years down the line I see myself as an owner of my own label where all my practical and creative skills would explore n explode to heights’ would apply all my best creative as well as practical knowledge to enhance my private label  and see to it that all the benefits are obtained. This would not only be a platform for the other creative people to explore their ideology and creativity to the organization I would be the chairman of. Team work and dedication would flourish in extremes and help not only others but also me to grow as a professional and as well as an individual. Ending up with a well known saying “it is the unseen, unforgettable, ultimate accessory of fashion that heralds your arrival and prolongs your departure”.
